The Department of Statistics and Operation Research in the Faculty of Science and Agriculture at the University of Limpopo is recruiting for the following posts.

Professor (Statistics)

Qualifications and requirements

• PhD in the field of Statistics.

• At least ten (10) years of relevant research and teaching experience at tertiary level.

• Appropriate administrative experience.

• Supervised at least two (2) PhD students to completion in the relevant discipline.

• Evidence of publication in DHET accredited journals, that is, at least ten (10) publications.

• Evidence of good publication track record, including recent publications.

• Record of lecturing Statistics modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

• Ability and evidence of sourcing third-stream income.

• Evidence of the ability to establish collaborations and raise research funds.

• Experience and expertise in the use of various statistical software packages such as SAS, R, Python, SPSS, STATA, etc.

• Evidence of community engagement activities.

Duties and responsibilities

• Teach students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

• Supervise postgraduate students at all levels (Honours, Masters, PhD).

• Conduct research in any of the branches of Statistics.

• Engage in community outreach programmes.

• Contribute to departmental, school and faculty administration as required.

• Contribute to curriculum development.

Qualifications and requirements

• PhD in the field of Operations Research or Data Analytics.

• At least ten (10) years for Professorship level and seven (7) years for Associate Professorship level of relevant research and teaching experience at tertiary level.

• Appropriate administrative experience.

• Supervised at least two (2) PhD students to completion in the relevant discipline for the Professorship level.

• Evidence of publication in DHET accredited journals, that is, at least ten (10) publications for Professorship level and at least five (5) publications for Associate Professorship level.

• Evidence of good publication track record, including recent publications.

• Record of lecturing Operations Research courses/modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

• Ability and evidence of sourcing third-stream income.

• Evidence of the ability to establish collaborations and raise research funds.

• Experience and expertise in the use of various statistical software packages such as SAS, R, Python, SPSS, STATA, etc.

• Evidence of community engagement activities.

• Evidence of teaching both Statistics and Operations Research modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

• Evidence of postgraduate students (Honours, Masters) supervision and publications in DHET accredited journals.

• Evidence of the ability to establish research collaborations and raise research funds.

• Expertise in the use of statistical software packages like SPSS, SAS, STATA, STATISTICA, etc.

• Evidence of community engagement activities.

• Teach the Operational Research modules for undergraduate levels and develop a postgraduate curriculum.

• Participate in academic administration.

• Engage in research projects and publish results.

• Engage in community outreach programmes.

• Assist in departmental and school administration.

• Supervise postgraduate students at Honours and Master’s levels.
